The textural brushed surface of a Dawn Stafford painting is varnished with a very soft semi-matte product which helps protect the surface from dirt and harmful UV rays. Each painting is beautifully and simply framed or finished according to Dawn's sensitive style and taste. Also, please keep in mind, that the images on this website do not reflect the true color and surface quality of a Stafford painting. There is rhythm and movement in her mannered application of the paint. Images are created through a rich layering of pigments that can only be appreciated up close. She uses a palette knife and wide bristle brushes separately or in combination, working the pigments both wet and dry.
